Cricket's BRASS BRUSH

This was bought from Cricket_44 on ebay. It is a rather soft brush and inexpensive- and I was rather surprised with the results. Since this experiment, I have used it satisfactorily on many coins. Every other brass brush I have tried would eat patina quickly.

In my use, I have learned a couple tidbits.

First, don't use it on weak, flaky or "false" patina'ed coins. It will remove the patina in nothing flat.

Second, don't use it on silver coins- the brass is harder than the silver, and will scratch the coin.

Third, it seems to work nicely on silvered coins; just don't overdo it. The brush will leave a "brass" colored finish to the coin (and some other bronze coins). This can be removed by using a silver brush, a toothbrushing with soap and water, or the 6 micron 3M radial bristle brush.

This brass brush seems to clean as well as the silver brushes I have on most coins, overall. This seems to work better on more soiled coins, but the silver brushes work better on less soiled coins than the brass brush.

I also enjoy the larger handle and the larger bristle area, compared to the silver brushes.

Here's a sample of a coin:

Before above, After below

Although far from being done, there is a tremendous difference!
