COIN CARE

Coin Care- removes soil and coating from coins, leaving a natural finish and color, adds a lubricant as a protective field.

What will it do? I haven't the slightest idea.

Here are five "coins" from my cull tub for the sacrifice.

The top left coin has been renwaxed. The top right coin has some dirt, encrstations and small spots of patina. Bottom left coin is heavily encrusted. The broken coin has a decent green patina, but is encrusted (and broken). The small chip seems just dirty. This stuff burns my eyes- I have no idea what it is made of- nothing is stated on the label.

I'm soaking the coins in straight cleaner. I'll check them every minute or so- but nothing really seems to be happening initially.

After 5 minutes, nothing seems to have happened yet.

After 15 minutes, nothing really seems to have happened yet.

After 30 minutes, I still see no difference.

After one hour, still no visual difference.

And after three hours:

Coins are slightly darker, and have an oily finish that soap/water rinse didn't totally remove. Renwax wasn't removed. Some encrustations removed from the coin piece, and the remaining seems easier to grind away. No discernable dirt removed from dirty coins. Coin in the bottom left has no change. I don't know what this is supposed to do- but it doesn't seem like much.

Next Trial-

Since some encrustation seems to have been removed, I'll try a longer term soak on an encrusted coin that I had set aside for zapping. The coin weighs 3.0 grams and is 4.00 mm at its thickest part.

2/23

So, after about 3 weeks, here's what I have:

If anyone could tell me why the right picture came the brighter- greener, even though all settings on the camera, light etc were the same, please email me. This happens frequently, and is annoying.

Anyways- it weighs 3.1 grams- an increase of 0.1g. The thickest part is 3.95mm. I have some patina loss, and really no discernable change.

A waste of money and time
