HELPING HANDS WITH MOVABLE MAGNIFIER LAMP
I bought one of those helping hands gadgets. It's a cast iron base with a magnifying glass and two alligator clips. The clips and base are on swivels, so one can move them around easily. I removed the magnifying glass (it was on a swivel and attached with a wing nut).
I bought one of those movable desk lamps, that has a built in magnifier. I put a 40 watt penny saver bulb in it, which is more than enough light for me.
I'm clipping a coin on one of the clips. The helping hands unit is below the lamp, and I look through the magnifier while cleaning a coin. I support the clipped coin from underneath, while working on it.
So far, the clip hasn't scratched a coin. Also, my hand is not getting nearly as tired as before, when I simply held the coin with my hand. I would have to hold it very stiffly and secure... now the clip more or less holds the coin in place.
The extra magnification helps as well when cleaning.
A good $25 spent.
I would recommend this setup or one similar to all cleaners.
